Post submitted by Chloe Stokes, HRC Digital Media Intern.

In December, federal judge Robert Shelby ruled that Utah Constitutional Amendment 3, a law that limits marriage to heterosexual couples, is in violation of the constitution.

HRC will be hosting a Tele-Townhall on February 3rd to examine the key points of the decision, and what it means for same-sex couples in Utah. HRC Legal Director Brian Moulton will highlight the implications of this ruling, and Marty Rouse, HRC National Field Director will be present to discuss HRC’s outreach in Utah. Chair of Equality Utah Cliff Rodksy will also be on the call to examine how the state is handling marriage.

If you have friends or family who have been affected by this decision, make sure to remind them to register for the Tele-Townhall. HRC hopes to provide participants with as much information as possible about this ruling.
