This year, HRC’s 12th annual Corporate Equality Index provides a snapshot of the unparalleled support for LGBT inclusion in corporate culture and practices.
Not only does this year’s report show that an overwhelming 90 percent of large companies and two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies and corporation offer benefits to same-sex domestic partners of employees, but also an historic number of corporations received top billing on the index.
In just two years, under the most rigorous CEI criteria, the number of top-rated businesses leapt from 189 to 304.
And companies and corporations are taking a public stand in the name of social responsibility as never before. This year, more than 100 of the country’s most respected brands signed on in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a bill that would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and 300 companies came out in support of marriage equality.
