The following post comes from Patrick Gamble, HRC Arizona Board of Governor:
This past weekend the Phoenix Steering Committee brought together nine local restaurants for the second annual COOK Phoenix, a tasting event and cooking competition to support the work of HRC.
The event was held at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix and was widely attended by hundreds of supporters. Local vendors offered small items from their menu for attendees to sample. Guests voted on their favorites and choose Kincaid’s for the “People Choice” award while a panel of judges granted the “Judges’ Choice” award to Bink’s Midtown.
Local Phoenix restaurants included Harley’s Italian Bistro, Bink’s Midtown, Ticoz, Barrio Café, Thai E Sands, SoChu House, Christopher’s Crush Lounge, Kincaid’s, and Bliss/REBar. Hensley Beverage sponsored a beer lounge with craft beer samplings for attendees. Celebrity Chef Gabe Bertaccini was back again and performed cooking demonstrations during the event. Local entertainers DJ Arias, Danielle Diaz, and Between Spaces kept the audience entertained all afternoon.
Co-Chairs Patrick Gamble and Natalie Cianciola were very happy with the success and plan to hold COOK Phoenix again in the fall of 2014.
