Moments ago, the Colorado House Appropriations committee voted 9-4 in favor of SB-11, the Civil Unions Act. This was the last step in getting the civil unions bill to the full House for a vote.
Earlier this session, the bill cleared the House Finance and House Judiciary Committee, as well as the full State Senate. Under the leadership of openly gay House Speaker, Mark Ferrandino and state Rep. Sue Schafer, Colorado is closer than ever before in granting civil unions to LGBT Coloradoans.
If passed by the full House, Governor Hickenlooper has indicated that he will sign the bill.
This is your best chance to make your voice heard in Colorado and ensure that civil unions become a reality. Make sure you contact your state representatives urge them to pass SB-11, the Civil Unions Act. Click here to send your message.
