The deadline to enroll in new coverage options under the Affordable Care Act is just five days away.
The Affordable Care Act addresses a number of the barriers LGBT people face in obtaining health insurance, from financial barriers to obtaining affordable coverage to discrimination by insurance carriers and healthcare providers.
Only 43 percent of low-and middle-income LGBT individuals receive coverage through their employer, compared to 58 percent of non-LGBT individuals, according to Out2Enroll analysis. And though a disproportionate number of LGBT Americans are uninsured, fewer than one-third know about the affordable options now offered through the ACA marketplace.
Now is the time to get covered. For more LGBT-specific questions about the ACA, please visit Out2Enroll before March 31.
