HRC Volunteers Keep Equality Moving Forward in the Keystone State

This week, HRC members in the greater Philadelphia area joined in on another phone bank to help turn out HRC members in this critical election. Across the state, HRC members are being plugged into key races, working hard to ensure that pro-equality are elected to represent us. With just under two weeks left, the energy is high and we’re working harder than ever to make sure our people get out to vote.

This past Monday, I was welcomed to the charming city of Troy in upstate New York with one of my favorite things in the world: a big pro-equality rally. The rally was sponsored by pro-equality state Senate candidate Joanne Yepsen, and was held to denounce the recent discriminatory remarks of New York Governor hopeful Carl Paladino.

HRC today released its Congressional Scorecard for the 111th Congress that rates members of Congress on their support for issues of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. An analysis of the data demonstrates a stark polarization with increases in both highly supportive and highly anti-LGBT legislators. The average score for House members was 50.8 percent and 57.3 percent for Senators.

On Saturday, Reid was at the kick-off event for a Las Vegas call center with 22 stations that can make thousands of call an hour, reaching voters across the state.
