Post submitted by Little Rock Education Association President Cathy Koehler
Each year at the National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly, Little Rock Education Association (LREA) delegates wear a local association's tee shirt for a group photo. This year, we chose to wear HRC’s state tee shirt with the slogan "No Hate in Our State."
As educators, we believe that we must stand with, protect and defend our students and employees who are bullied, mistreated or in any way marginalized. We wanted the message of "No Hate in Our State" to not only reach other LREA and Arkansas Education Association members, but NEA members from across the country.
As we prepare for the 2015-2016 school year, these tee shirts will be worn at sites across Little Rock School District, indicating that LREA members will not tolerate bigotry toward anyone for any reason. Injury and injustice to one is injury and injustice to all. Arkansans of good will can, and must, rise above petty bigotry for the sake of our children and future.
