On a rainy night in Morristown, New Jersey, campaign representative Andrew Davison was hard at work collecting more postcards and handwritten letters in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. The Gay Activist Alliance of Morris County was holding its annual Pastabilities fundraiser where members cook up their favorite dishes and share them in the potluck style fundraiser. While enjoying the numerous delicious dishes, attendees learned about how we have never been closer to passing ENDA and what they specifically can do to help. Pictured, Rita, Michelle and Sarah each draft their own letter of support and sign up for a phone bank.
The U.S. Senate just passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) with a strong bipartisan vote this past November. This critical bill, which would provide federal protections against workplace discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers, is now pending in the U.S. House of Representatives. To learn more about HRC’s work to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act visit www.hrc.org/ENDA.
ENDA is supported by more than 67% of voters in New Jersey, including a solid majority of Republicans. As part of the Americans for Workplace Opportunity campaign, HRC organizers are currently on the ground in New Jersey to secure the necessary support of members of Congress to pass ENDA.
