Hailing from Perth Amboy, New Jersey, I am extremely excited to hear that marriage equality has finally come to the Garden State. It is hard to put into words how proud I am of my home state and especially, my colleagues at HRC who worked alongside other groups as part of New Jersey United for Marriage. HRC has five field organizers on-the-ground across the Garden State working to ensure marriage equality reached the state.
It is with particular pride and honor that I helped raise the flag of my home state on the roof of the HRC building, to show our nation’s capital, and indeed our country, how proud we are that the Garden State is now the 14th state where gay and lesbian couples can finally get married.
#14. Congratulations, New Jersey. Wow.
