As you know, on Tuesday, March 26, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on Hollingsworth v. Perry, the case arguing the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8, which bans gay and lesbian couples from marrying in that state. As part of events on the steps of the Supreme Court building to bring attention to the broad and diverse support for same-sex marriage rights, Karen Bailey and Nelda Majors of Arizona who have been together for more than 55 years will be among those making the case for marriage equality.
Karen and Nelda met when they were 18 and 19 years old. They've spent their entire lives together, and hope to one day be able to have their loving and committed relationship recognized by the state they call home.
Watch an adorable video about them below, and visit www.hrc.org/standformarriage for information about the events in DC and across the nation.
