Yesterday Michelangelo Signorile appeared on CNN to talk about Michael Sam and the now infamous kiss between Sam and his partner, Vito Cammisano, after Sam learned he was drafted into the NFL by the St. Louis Rams.

Carol Costello, host of CNN Newsroom, asked if "the kiss" would be a problem with the other players on the team. Signorile argued that this type of question reflects the criticism and hostility facing LGBT couples in the media.

Signorile explains in a piece in Huffington Post, "People just aren't used to seeing two men or two women kissing, even with all the news coverage of gay marriage … Gay people need to be kissing more in public. There simply needs to be more queer smooching to desensitize the world."Ida

Signorile is urging everyone -- no matter sex or gender -- to change their profile picture to two women kissing or two men kissing. It can be of you and your husband or wife, partner, friend, or parent, or even of a couple you do not know.  Free-usage photos are available on WikiCommons. Signorile is also urging everyone on Twitter to join the campaign using the hashtag #KissIn.
