LGBTQ history could be made on Sunday at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards. From LGBTQ and allied actors to groundbreaking television shows and films, here’s who to look out for:

  • Evan Rachel Wood: Evan Rachel Wood is nominated for Best Actress, Drama, for her role in the popular HBO show Westworld. In 2015, Wood, who is openly bisexual, tweeted shocking stats from HRC’s report on bisexual health. In a powerful video released in June, Wood once again opened up about the many issues, stereotypes and misconceptions facing the bisexual community, including her own struggles.
  • Sarah Paulson: Sarah Paulson is nominated for Best Actress, Mini-Series or TV Movie, for her standout role in the series The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. In September, Paulson took home an Emmy Award for the same role, telling her partner Holland Taylor she loved her in her acceptance speech.
  • Mandy Moore: Mandy Moore, who recently revealed that her mother and two brothers are LGBTQ, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the hit TV show This Is Us.
  • Transparent: The groundbreaking Amazon show, which follows the transition and story of a transgender mother, received two nominations. Jeffrey Tambor is nominated for Best Actor, Comedy, and the show is nominated for Best TV Series, Comedy/Musical. Two stars of the show, Judith Light and Kathryn Hahn, are longtime HRC supporters. Hahn received an HRC Ally for Equality award in May.
  • The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story: Longtime HRC supporter and LGBTQ advocate Ryan Murphy, as well as Nina Jacobson, produced The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. The show is nominated for Best TV Miniseries or Movie. Last year, Murphy and Ned Martel, with the support of their colleagues at Ryan Murphy Television, released a special tribute video, Stop the Hate, with HRC to the 49 victims of the Orlando shooting at Pulse nightclub on Latin night. Jacobson, along with several actors who also appeared in the Stop the Hate video, including Paulson and Wood, are nominated for Golden Globes.
  • Moonlight: Moonlight, which tells a moving story of a black gay man, received six nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Drama, and Best Original Score. The film is based on a play by openly gay playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Barry Jenkins, who is straight, is nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay. Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris are nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively.
  • HRC Allies: Several HRC supporters and allies, including Kerry Washington, Bryan Cranston and Sarah Jessica Parker are nominated. Meryl Streep, who will be honored with HRC’s Ally for Equality Award at the 2017 HRC Greater New York Gala next month, is also nominated.
