HRC University hosted a Generation Equality Networking event yesterday evening at the HRC headquarters. Young professionals from the Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia area joined us for a night of productive socializing. Many of these attendees hail from LGBT progressive organizations, as well as many LGBT inclusive universities and colleges.
Associate Director of Youth and Campus Engagement, Candace Gingrich started the evening with an inspiring speech on the importance of networking and about how learning the correct skills will help you stand out in the crowd.
HRC Staff members facilitated the event by separating the participants into smaller groups to work on their short elevator speeches. The significance of an elevator pitch is to define yourself to make a quick and strong impression. This skill is extremely important for the networking world especially if you are a young professional.
The night continued on with more networking amongst the attendees and, as the event came to an end, the young professionals walked away with the confidence and skills needed to advance Generation Equality.
