On Monday, March 11th I attended the annual lobby day of Equality Texas. I was among several hundred participants that stormed the Texas State Capital to share our stories with legislators, and urge them to consider voting for legislation that would benefit the LGBT community. Our group was assigned House Bill 32/ 30 which will standardize the process for correcting Gender Markers in the state of Texas.
We began the day getting to know each other and prepping for the journey ahead.  Afterwards we all met on the steps of the State Capital for an amazing press conference led by Equality Texas' Executive Director, Chuck Smith. During the press conference the crowd was addressed by Representative Mary González  who urged the crowd to continue to fight the hard fight. The energy was palpable. I feel very honored to have shared such an amazing day with so many of my LBGT brothers and sisters. It reaffirmed my belief: we are all together in this fight on the road to equality.  One of the most rewarding visits of the day was to the office of pro equality Representative Mike Villarreal, from San Antonio, who posed for this picture with the group.
The great state of Texas is changing, and I look forward to the amazing things that will be accomplished here.
