Post submitted by Lynne Bowman, HRC Regional Field Director

I've spent this week on the ground in Chicago working with the Illinois Unites for Marriage field team. The Religious Freedom and Marriage Equality act has been introduced in both the House and the Senate.

Legislators return to Springfield next week and we expect the bill to be taken up for consideration early in the Session.

In order to make sure we're ready and have the votes when the question is called, the coalition has grown the ground game to encourage Illinoisans in select districts to contact their legislator.

HRC is proud to have staff on the ground and be a contributing member to the Illinois Unites for Marriage coalition. Working together with partners like Equality Illinois, ACLU, Lambda Legal and other progressive organizations, we know we will win.
