Last weekend in Houston, HRC’s Field team hosted an Equality Action Academy training for members in partnership with the Houston GLBT Political Caucus.

More than 60 members drove from all corners of Harris County to partake in the three hours of campaign skills-building. Texas houses some of the most competitive Congressional races around the country this November, and Houstonians are wasting no time in organizing.

Texas state senator Sylvia Garcia, an HRC-endorsed Congressional candidate and longtime ally and champion for equality, greeted the group. Attendees were provided a primer on advocacy areas including the power of storytelling, legislative lobbying, elections, coalition-building and online activism.
