Her HRC season is now in full swing. We hosted a burlesque event this past weekend in St. Louis, cabaret in Cincinnati and all kinds of entertainment and comedy in Columbus.
As diverse as the cities these events are held in, so is their unique programming and the communities they reach. One distinct event we have coming down the pike is our Third Annual Indian bhangra dancing event in Portland, a popular style of music associated with Punjabi Indian culture. Local favorite DJ Anjali will spin, and then teach all participants traditional dances.
HerHRC is a collection of events as diverse as the women of the LGBT community. According to a recent Gallup report, 3.4 percent of the American population identifies as LGBT, and they are more likely to be racially diverse than the American populace on the whole. In fact, 4.6 percent of African-Americans identify as LGBT along with 4.0 percent of Hispanics and 4.3 percent of Asians. This is compared to 3.2% of white Americans.
All 26 of our events are engaging women and are open to all. However you identify, find a HerHRC event near you. For photos and of the fun and to locate the event nearest you, visit www.hrc.org/herhrc.
