HRC is excited to announce that 2014 HBCU Leadership and Career Summit applications are now being accepted.
“We are proud to continue bringing together LGBT student leaders from HBCU’s across the country as part of a four-day intensive leadership and career summit,” said Youth and Campus Engagement Director, Sultan Shakir. “This opportunity empowers them to live as their authentic selves and advocate on behalf of others.”
The HBCU Leadership and Career Summit exists so that students can gain the skills necessary to educate people within their community on the importance of LGBT equality. It helps build a coalition of student activists all charged with the same end goal: to advance the climate for LGBT people on their campuses.
Accepted participants will be awarded travel to and from Washington, D.C., lodging and food. Allies are welcome to apply, however preference is given to LGBT-identified applicants.
