Post submitted by Adrian Matanza, Former HRC Regional Field Director
Just moments ago, the Hawaii State Legislature convened a special session to consider a marriage equality bill. At 10:30am, local time, the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Labor will begin hearing testimony from supporters and opponents of SB1, the marriage equality bill.
HRC organizers are on the ground with Hawaii United for Marriage and hundreds of supporters at the Capitol today visiting with legislators and showing some Aloha for all residents of Hawaii. Senator Clayton Hee, the chair of the senate committee reports that over 1000 Hawaii residents have submitted in person testimony.
It's not too late to show your support for the bill. Click here to send a message to your Hawaii State legislators and stay tuned to HRC's blog for updates on the hearings and the progress of marriage equality in the Aloha State.
