In an interview last week, Aiza Seguerra , a popular singer and child actor in the Philippines, came out as transgender.
Seguerra appeared on the popular talk show “Aquino & Abunda Tonight," where he talked openly about his gender identity and explained the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation.
“Finally I discovered … I'm not a lesbian," he said. "It answered a lot of questions."
In the interview, which was conducted in English and Tagalog, Seguerra opened up about his personal life and his plans with his fiancé to come to the United States to get married.
Seguerra follows in the steps of Filipino model, advocate and transgender woman Geena Rocero, who came out earlier this year. HRC applauds Seguerra and Rocero for paving the way for increased visibility in the Filipino and international transgender community.
