With a team of nearly a dozen field organizers on the ground - and more expected in the coming weeks - the campaign to make Illinois the tenth state to assure marriage equality for all couples is gaining steam every day.
Eighteen people showed up for the first Illinois Unites for Marriage campaign in February. In four hours these excited volunteers and members of the field team were able to make nearly 2,500 phone calls and secure over 50 volunteers for future work.
Phone banks and canvasses are planned every day for the next few weeks.
The Human Rights Campaign is proud to be a member of the Illinois Unites for Marriage campaign with other partners including Equality Illinois, Freedom to Marry, ACLU and Lambda Legal. With multiple staff on the ground, we happy to make a significant investment in securing marriage equality in Illinois.
