One Oregon father is planning a cross-country journey to raise awareness and support for anti-bullying programs.
Tomorrow Joe Bell will set off from his hometown of La Grande, Oregon. He’ll traverse 5,000 miles on two artificial knees before hitting the Delaware coastline.
Bullying is pandemic issue in our country and creates a toxic environment for all American youth. This year 13 million American children will be bullied, making it the most common form of violence facing American youth, according to The Bully Project.
LGBT youth reported even harsher, more prevalent cases of bullying in schools. In a groundbreaking survey, HRC found that LGBT youth are twice as likely to say their have been physically assaulted, kicked or shoved at school. A shocking 92 percent say they hear negative messages about being LGBT.
