Building the Case for Workplace Equality in Florida

Rays of corporate equality reached Tampa this week, as the Workplace Project travelled to the Sunshine State to attend at the 2013 Florida LGBT-Allies Diversity Summit.
Now in its second year, the summit put together an impressive agenda for the event surrounding this year’s theme, 'What the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index Means to Your Business and Our Community.
HRC’s Workplace Project kicked off the summit with a detailed explanation of the CEI, the business case for LGBT inclusion and a discussion of the workplace environment. Later a panel of professionals from Wyndham Vacation Ownership, CBS Radio, and Moffit Cancer Center discussed their experiences with implementing LGBT equality in the workplace. The half-day event concluded with an inspiring keynote address from Morgan Stanley’s Managing Director, Caroline Gundeck entitled, “Being Commercial: The Power of Diverse Partnerships.”
Morgan Stanley's commitment to equality for the LGBT community spans many years, as shown by its consistent perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index. We commend Morgan Stanley for its efforts to build a company culture that celebrates and learns from diversity – a characteristic that the company shares with several of the event’s other sponsors, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Buzzfish Marketing and Starbucks Coffee.
