Wisc. Assembly Passes Budget with DP Protections; On to Senate
June 15, 2009
Last week, we reported that the Wisconsin Assembly was poised to vote on a budget, proposed by Gov. Jim Doyle, that includes important basic legal protections for same-sex couples. Our friends at Fair Wisconsin report that, on Saturday, the Assembly voted 50-48 to pass the budget, with the domestic partner provisions. The state Senate is expected to vote on the budget this week. If you live in Wisconsin, please ask your state senator to pass the budget with these important domestic partner protections.
