Wear Purple on Friday for Spirit Day!
October 17, 2012 by Carolyn Simon, Associate Director of Digital Media
Spirit Day is only two days away – are you ready to get your purple on?
By wearing purple, you are taking a stand against bullying - especially anti-LGBT bullying - and sending a message that all children and teens should be celebrated for who they are.
Want your message to reach even more people? Visit HRC’s Spirit Day Facebook app to tell your friends and family about the power of purple.
Spirit Day was first held in 2010 to honor the memory of several young people who had committed suicide in the wake of anti-LGBT bullying.
Visit the Spirit Day Facebook app today, and check back with the HRC Blog on Friday to view our annual photo of HRC staff showing off their purple apparel. A year ago, we took a photo with Janice Langbehn, who had just received the Presidential Citizens medal from President Obama for her courageous battle for increased equality in healthcare.
