Watch Tomorrow: Live Performance of “8”
March 2, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Associate Director of Communications
The American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) is putting on a performance of “8” tomorrow night – only the second time the Dustin Lance Black-penned play has been professionally performed. The production is based on transcripts of the original Proposition 8 trial. Now, Google is partnering with AFER to help the play reach a much wider audience - and will be live streaming the performance online for all to see.
The performance gets underway at 7:45pm PST tomorrow night (Saturday, March 3) – viewers can go to youtube.com/americanequalrights to watch the performance as it takes place live at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.
The all-star cast includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Google has a long history of supporting LGBT equality – the company opposed Proposition 8 and also has come out against the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act. Google was one of several corporations that vocally supported marriage equality in Washington State in advance of the historic legislation becoming law. Google also is a leader in treating its employees equally – the company has a 100 on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.
Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow night at 7:45pm PST.
