Don’t miss tonight’s episode of Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual, featuring True Colors co-founder and music legend Cyndi Lauper and the Forty to None Project as they take on Washington in a continued effort to combat the pervasive issue of LGBT youth homelessness.
The episode is a behind-the-scenes look at last May’s meeting between Lauper, True Colors Fund, HRC, Center for American Progress, the National Alliance to End Homelessness and Congressional leaders, including Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, then-Sen. John Kerry and Rep. Jared Polis, to discuss how to help the 1.6 million homeless youth, 40 percent of which identify as LGBT.
While in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius presented Cyndi with a SAMHSA Special Recognition Award for her work in helping LGBT homeless youth.
