Washington Counting Update: One Month Down… How Long To Go?

WA-DP-approve-ref-71_logoIt's been a month since opponents of Washington State's new domestic partnership law delivered signatures to the Secretary of State in an effort to put the law to voters in November to approve or reject.  As of last night the Secretary of State's office reports 110,288 signatures have been checked out of the 137,689 submitted.  Of those checked, 13,027 have so far been rejected.  For those of you keeping track that puts the cumulative rejection rate at 11.81 percent.  We've seen that number climb as the process progressed since they're more likely to find duplicates over time.  We're still below the approximately 12.4 percent final rejection rate that would keep Ref. 71 off the ballot.  Stay tuned!
