WA Counting Update: Almost at 12% Rejection Rate

WA-DP-approve-ref-71_logoThe latest daily update from the counting in Washington State is in... 88,191 signatures have been checked and of them 77,637 have been accepted and 10,554 have been rejected.  That brings the rejection rate up to 11.97 percent (it was 11.67 percent yesterday and 11.32 percent the day before).  If the final rejection rate is above about 12.4 percent the measure won't make its way on to the ballot.  The Secretary of State notes the rejection rate generally continues to rise as counting goes on since they're more likely to find duplicate signatures.  Although there are some signatures on hold -- both those awaiting verification from county officials and those that need to be checked against recent voter registrations -- so even if the rejection rate continues to rise, it could end up lower once those additional signatures are verified.  Check back often as we'll bring you all of the latest news here on HRC Back Story.
