Video: Watch Yesterday’s Protest of Chick-fil-A
July 27, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Associate Director of Digital Media
"Chicken's good. Chicken's great. Why you gotta discriminate?" chanted 25 HRC supporters yesterday outside of the Chick-fil-A food truck in Washington, D.C.
Protesters donned signs and passed out flyers to alert consumers about the company's extensive history of discriminating against LGBT Americans and their millions of dollars worth of donations to groups that demonize the LGBT community.
Chick-fil-A’s donations include nearly $500,000 to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes – a group that has publicly denounced the “impure lifestyle” of LGBT people, nearly $13,000 to Focus on the Family – identified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, $1.1 million to the Marriage & Family Foundation and thousands to groups like the Family Research Council, the Pennsylvania Family Institute, and the Georgia Family Council – all of which loudly advocate against equality for LGBT people.
You can join HRC in standing up to this discrimination. Sign our pledge now and let Chick-fil-A know that they are on the wrong side of history.
