Video: Suze Orman on how DOMA Hurts the American Economy
February 25, 2013 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Coordinator
Financial expert Suze Orman recently spoke with CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux about how the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and marriage discrimination are hurting the American economy.
Orman spoke both generally and personally about how DOMA singles out lawfully married same-sex couples for unequal treatment under federal law, saying gay and lesbian couples “should be recognized for who they love and not penalized financially.”
On Friday Orman joined Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee and others in New York for a panel discussion on DOMA’s economic harms hosted by the Respect for Marriage Coalition.
HRC is a proud member of the Respect for Marriage Coalition, with includes over 80 organizations working to protect the rights of loving, committed same-sex couples.
