Video: HRC & Freedom to Marry Ad Highlights Republican Support for Marriage Equality

HRC and Freedom to Marry are releasing a new ad touting Republican support for marriage equality. The ad will run in Tampa next week during the Republican National Convention. It features San Diego’s Republican Mayor Jerry Sanders, and highlights other prominent conservatives who support the freedom to marry, including Dick Cheney, Laura Bush, and Cindy McCain.

Recent polling shows that nearly half of all young Republicans support marriage equality. Last week, Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry submitted a letter to the GOP platform drafting committee urging them not to come out against marriage for same-sex couples in the 2012 platform.
