Video: Anchorwoman Sends Powerful Message about Bullying to Youth
October 3, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
October is National Bullying Month, and a powerful new video going viral is sending a wonderful message to young people about why they shouldn’t let the actions of bullies impact how they view themselves.
WKBT’s Jennifer Livingston shared a letter she received from a viewer who told her that her weight set a poor example for viewers – particularly girls. Livingston responded powerfully and reminded adults about the important role their behavior plays in driving bullying:
We need to teach our kids how to be kind, not critical, and we need to do that by example.
….Listen to me right now: Do not let your self-worth be defined by bullies. Learn from my experience that the cruel words of one are nothing compared to the shouts of many.
