Victory in Wisconsin’s Second District: Mark Pocan Wins Big
August 15, 2012 by Paul Guequierre
Last night, openly gay State Representative Mark Pocan won the Democratic nomination for Congress in Wisconsin’s Second Congressional District. Mark won with over 70 percent of the vote, and this is considered a safe Democratic seat – so it’s likely he will now succeed Tammy Baldwin in the House of Representatives.
Mark served on the Dane County Board with Tammy Baldwin, and he ran for her State Assembly seat and won when she left to go to Washington. Mark strongly supports Tammy Baldwin in her bid for the U.S. Senate.
HRC proudly endorsed Mark Pocan very early in his race and we are thrilled to see that our hard work on his behalf has helped him in his successful bid.
Join HRC in supporting Mark, Tammy, and other candidates for equality this election cycle.
