The following post comes from HRC Field Organizer, Nick McCoy: This past Saturday, HRC Field Intern, Vasiliy Kisunko, and I were out in Alexandria, Virginia, fighting for equality with the Virginia Young Democrats. The Virginia Young Dems are dedicated and passionate about working to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." We arrived at the meeting to find ourselves in the company of 79 enthusiastic young democrats, two congressmen, and former DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe! With the help of our allies at the Virginia Young Democrats Convention, we were able to collect 64 hand-written letters, 64 postcards and make 27 phone calls to Senator Webb asking him to support the repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" this year. The work of the Human Rights Campaign is not new to the Virginia Young Democrats. Several attendees remembered seeing HRC Veteran DADT Repeal consultant, Jarrod Chapowski, speak about the need for repeal in Chicago, Illinois last year at the national Young Democrats convention. HRC is so excited to be working with the Virginia Young Democrats and we appreciate their strong support of our national effort to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
