A group of University of Portland’s students are calling on school administrators to redefine its nondiscrimination policy to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
In a video released this week on YouTube, a group of fair-minded students responded to University of Portland President Father Beauchamp’s statement on the policy.
The video shows the statement Beauchamp made to a newspaper, “We know that there are faculty and staff in same-sex relationships on campus. They are not open about it and we don’t ask them. But if someone were to go very public about it and make an issue, then we would have trouble.”
