University of Alaska Anchorage Students Vote Yes on Prop 5
March 26, 2012 by HRC staff
This post comes from Molly Griffard, one of HRC’s organizers in Anchorage:
Anchorage voters recently began early voting on the April 3 municipal elections. On the ballot this spring is Prop 5, an initiative that would add protections to the municipal code based on sexual orientation and gender identity. We’ve been on the ground for over a week now working with One Anchorage and turning folks out to vote YES.
I’m on campus at the University of Alaska Anchorage working with students and volunteers to Get Out The Vote. Our leadership team on campus has been hard at work recruiting volunteers to phone bank and help get their fellow students to vote on an important issue during a typically low voter turnout election. One student brought her entire class to vote YES on Prop 5.
We’ll be on the ground in Anchorage through Election Day on April 3. If you’re in Anchorage and want to get involved in this important election, contact me at Molly.Griffard@hrc.org.
