Two Weeks Left to Take Action for Equality
October 23, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Associate Director of Digital Media
We’re two weeks out from the most important presidential election our community has ever faced. We have a choice between a president who has done more to advance LGBT equality than any other sitting commander-in-chief, and a challenger who does not support our families, our relationships, or even our rights to feel protected in the workplace and in school.
But it’s not just in the White House where we face historic consequences. In states across the country, there are numerous candidates and ballot measures that represent opportunities to continue moving equality forward. From the four marriage battles in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington; to Tammy Baldwin’s bid to become the first openly gay member of the U.S. Senate – there is more at stake than ever before.
HRC is hard at work supporting candidates with proven track records in support of LGBT equality and fighting for marriage equality across the country, but we cannot do it alone.
With the HRC National Marriage Fund, 100 percent of your contribution will help to win marriage equality in Maryland, Maine and Washington, and defeat an anti-marriage constitutional amendment in Minnesota.

This election, stand on the right side of history and vote for equality.
