Two Governors Help Raise Funds for Maryland Marriage Fight
March 26, 2012 by Kevin Nix, Campaign Media Director
HRC was pleased to help pull together a last-minute fundraiser this past Friday night in Hartford, CT, with Governors Martin O’Malley (D) of Maryland and Dannel P. Malloy (D) of Connecticut. The reception was to raise money for Marylanders for Marriage Equality, of which HRC is a primary partner, for the likely November referendum on marriage equality.
Thanks to HRC Board member and Connecticut resident Brian Rice, former state senator Andrew McDonald, and both Governors who helped corral about 100 folks to the reception. Gov. O’Malley, who is chair of the Democratic Governors Association, was in town as the keynote speaker at the Connecticut Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey dinner.
