Tweet Now: Tell North Dakota Newspaper to Change Same-Sex Wedding Announcement Policy
July 25, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
A North Dakota newspaper says it’s reconsidering its policy concerning same-sex announcements after rejecting a wedding notice for a lesbian couple earlier this week. You can tweet at The Forum below and let them know the time is now to start recognizing loving, committed same-sex couples.
In rejecting the couple’s announcement, an editor for the paper said: “…at this time The Forum does not print engagement/wedding announcements for same sex couples. We will refund your $25 publication fee.”
Following an outcry on social media, the paper’s editor released a statement on Facebook:
"The Forum is reviewing its policy about publishing same-sex announcements. This is the second such request in recent months. We will communicate a decision once it's made."
Take action now and tell The Forum it’s time to start respecting loving, committed same-sex couples.
