Turning the Tide Together: HRC Gears Up for AIDS 2012
July 19, 2012 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Specialist
The 19th International AIDS Conference hits DC in a matter of days, and HRC is gearing up to participate in a number of exciting events over the upcoming week.
Sharon Groves, Director of HRC’s Religion & Faith program, will be a featured speaker at tomorrow’s Faith & AIDS Interfaith Pre-Conference.
Saturday evening, HRC and partners will present “Addressing Stigma in Transgender and other HIV-Vulnerable Communities.” The panel discussion features an impressive lineup of HIV experts and advocates and will be broadcast live online at 5 pm EDT. More information here.
HRC is proud to co-sponsor Monday night’s One Voice gospel concert, a forum with Whitman-Walker Clinic and numerous other events throughout the week. View the complete list here and be sure to visit our booth in the AIDS 2012 Global Village.
This is the first time the conference has been held in the US in 22 years, thanks to the recent lifting of the HIV travel ban. HRC played a leading role in lobbying for its repeal and continues to lobby Congress and HHS for the strongest possible funding for critical HIV research, prevention and treatment.
