Transgender Rights Bill Introduced in Maryland Senate

Earlier this week Maryland State Senators Madaleno and Raskin introduced the Fairness for All Marylanders Act of 2013.
The bill, which is co-sponsored by 21 of their colleagues in the Senate, would prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and expression in the areas of employment, housing, credit and public accommodations.
Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County and Montgomery County already have civil rights ordinances protecting transgender workers, but elsewhere in Maryland – and in 33 other states across the country – it remains legal to fire someone solely based on gender identity or expression.
HRC is a member of the Maryland Coalition for Trans Equality, which is working to advance equal rights for transgender and gender non-conforming people in Maryland.
Marylanders can support this critical legislation by making plans now to attend Lobby Day in Annapolis on the evening of Monday, February 18th.
