August 27, 2013 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Coordinator
Friday we reported on the deeply disturbing murder of Islan Nettles, a 21-year-old transgender woman who died from injuries sustained during a brutal attack in Harlem last week.
Tonight, Ms. Nettles' family - in partnership with Harlem Pride, Gay Men of African Descent, NYC Black Pride and a number of other community leaders - invite you to join together in a community vigil celebrating the life of Ms. Nettles.
The event begins tonight at 6:00 pm in Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem. The park entrance is located at 148th and Bradhurst Ave.
