Tonight at the DNC: More Equality Supporters Set to Speak
September 5, 2012 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Associate
At last night’s opening of the Democratic National Convention, we heard time and again, the rights and dignity of LGBT people affirmed as part of the greater narrative about what makes our country strong.
From Colorado Rep. Jared Polis lauding President Obama’s LGBT rights achievements to First Lady Michelle Obama stating that the American Dream belongs to everyone, no matter who we love, last night’s speakers emphasized diversity as America’s strength.
Tonight’s line-up includes even more prominent supporters of equal rights and protections for LGBT Americans. Newly married Rep. Barney Frank and steadfast LGBT ally Nancy Pelosi will address the convention mid-way through the night.
Other keynote speakers include committed equality supporter and HRC-endorsed Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren and former President Bill Clinton.
