Thousands Turn Out for Her HRC Events in 14 Cities
January 18, 2012 by HRC staff
This post comes from Tommy Lodge, HRC's senior manager, membership outreach:
The DJs battled it out in front of 600 people in Washington, D.C. Electric and acoustic bands pumped up the volume in front of more than 300 in Kansas City. Singer-songwriter Chris Pureka headlined a sold out event in Boston. Hundreds of women paid homage to the 1920s at a star-studded event in Los Angeles.
This past weekend, thousands of women in 14 cities celebrated our annual Her HRC program, designed to engage women regardless of gender identify or history with the LGBT equality movement and HRC. Women play an integral role in our movement for equality, and each year HRC organizes this diverse array of events to celebrate their role in our movement. Other events were held in Austin, Columbus, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego and St. Louis!
Fear not if you didn't make it to an event this weekend - Her HRC is not over. For many communities, the fun is just around the corner. Events still to come include those in Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Orange County, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and San Francisco. For more information and specific details of each event, visit our website at www.hrc.org/herhrc. While there, check out some profiles of some of the women leaders of HRC, photos of events already held, and follow the conversation on twitter (#herhrc).
By attending an event, you become one of HRC's powerful force of 1 million members and supporters. And as a member, we encourage you to get as involved as you can in our fight for equality - take action online, volunteer, or get involved in a campaign near you.
