This Sunday: Come Out For HRC’s “Pop Up Video” Shoot in New York City

We’re hosting a “Pop Up Video” day as part of our New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign at New York City’s Gansevoort Plaza this Sunday, April 17. New Yorkers are invited to add their voices to the campaign and record their own messages in support of marriage equality in the Empire State. The campaign can be viewed online at www.hrc.org/NY4marriage.

Come by any time between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to film your video in support of marriage equality. It will only take a few minutes. Gansevoort Plaza is located at the intersection of Ninth Avenue with Gansevoort and Little West 12th Streets.

The event will feature two-time Tony nominee Gavin Creel (HAIR, Modern Mille), Nick Adams (Pricilla Queen of the Desert), and co-founders of Broadway Impact, Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon) and Jenny Kanelos. Broadway Impact leads the theater community in support of marriage equality. Rickshaw Dumplings will be giving away free dumplings to anyone who creates a video.

The New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign is centered on video testimonials from New Yorkers who support the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry. HRC has released videos from Christopher Meloni, Mario Batali, David Chang, and Tom Colicchio, Lucy Liu, Bill Bratton and Rikki Klieman, Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, the Fabulous Beekman Boys, Russell Simmons, Mark and Sunrise Ruffalo, John Slattery, Joan Rivers, Barbara Bush, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, Fran Drescher, Moby, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Julianne Moore and Kenneth Cole – with more to follow in the coming weeks.
