This Holiday Season, Buy for Equality

We have much to be thankful for this holiday season.

Last week, we were thrilled to share the progress made in the 2013 Corporate Equality Index. And this week, with shopping season just around the corner, we are pleased to bring you the 2013 Buying for Workplace Equality Guide. This Buyer’s Guide includes results from the 2013 CEI, which features 252 businesses that scored a perfect 100 percent. All scores are based on the same set of criteria, rating 40 LGBT-related policies, benefits and corporate practice among the largest U.S. businesses.

This year’s guide represents a year of firsts. We had a record number of businesses opt-into the CEI survey, which are listed with official scores in this year’s guide. For the first time, a majority of the Fortune 500 – including hundreds of household brand names – have both sexual orientation and gender identity in their non-discrimination policies. And, for the first time, our community saw unprecedented support from some of our favorite brands backing marriage equality all across the country.

With Buying for Workplace Equality, we hope to harness the LGBT community’s $790 billion in buying power by providing you with the most accurate review of a business’s workplace policies toward LGBT employees.
