The Sweet Taste of Equality

The ice cream colossus, Ben & Jerry's took the opportunity today to applaud the UK Parliament’s vote to legalize same-sex marriage.
“This is a huge step forward for marriage equality everywhere, and we hope to see this latest bill become law,” the company posted on its Facebook page.
Ben & Jerry’s has long stood as an advocate for marriage equality. The founders joined HRC’s NYers for Marriage Equality campaign in 2011, in support of same-sex marriage in the state.
Unilever, the company that owns Ben & Jerry's, scored a 100 percent rating on the HRC 2013 Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees. The CEI report, released each fall, provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
