The Road to Victory in New Hampshire
October 9, 2012 by HRC staff
This post comes from HRC Regional Field Director Lynne Bowman:
I’m spending a few days in the Granite State talking with advocates about the future of marriage equality in the state. New Hampshire is one of only six states with marriage equality for same-sex couples, and with our friends at Standing Up For New Hampshire Families, HRC is working hard to beat back repeated attempts to repeal marriage equality.
This year HRC endorsed gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan, who championed marriage equality as Senate President when the law was passed. I had the good fortune to be with Maggie this morning as she received the endorsement of popular governor John Lynch, who signed the marriage equality bill into law and is now retiring after four terms in office. Recent polling shows a very close race. We're looking forward to seeing her in the governor's office and know that she will make sure the law is protected in her state.
