Thank You, NYC & Christine Quinn
September 11, 2013 by Marty Rouse, National Field Director
You win some and you lose some.
Last night New York City voters made HRC-endorsee Chris Quinn their third choice for mayor in the Democratic Primary.
While losing is never easy, we congratulate Chris for her years of service to the city she loves.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Chris fought hard for needed services for people with AIDS. She fought against hate-based violence, supported LGBT institutions, and in recent years showed her strong support for marriage equality.
Many thanks to the members of HRC’s Steering Committee of Greater New York for their many hours working the phones, knocking on doors, and talking to neighbors, family and friends about our friend, Chris Quinn.
We congratulate Democrat Bill DeBlasio and Republican Joe Lhota for coming on top in their respective party primaries and we acknowledge their support for marriage equality.
While the future for Chris is unclear, what is clear is that Chris had delivered results for the LGBT community and she has made life better for so many in the Big Apple.
